Everybody has experienced headaches at some point in their lives. While most headaches are temporary and can be caused by tension or a temporary condition such as cold or fever, some headaches can indicate serious health problems. Migraine refers to a type headache that is one-sided, severe, throbbing, or pulsating.

Pulsating headache

Because migraines involve the blocking of the arteries in the head, they can cause a pulsating headache. They can last from a few hours up to several days, or even longer. These symptoms are what distinguish migraines from other types of headaches. A person may feel an “aura” warning that a migraine is imminent. This could include visual disturbances, difficulty speaking, confusion, tingling or tingling in the hands or face, weakness in arm or leg, and/or difficulty understanding others.

These symptoms can last from 10 to 30 minutes before migraines begin. All types of migraines can cause severe headaches. These symptoms are often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, movement, and irritation from sound or light.

Take note

  • Hormonal factors that are related to women’s menstrual cycles.
  • Emotional factors such as anger, depression, fatigue and anxiety.
  • Caffeine in coffee and certain analgesic drugs may have both positive and negative effects. They can cause migraines if they are consumed on a regular basis, but they can be relieved if they are taken only occasionally. Drink a cup of coffee, take painkillers, and lay down in a darkened room if you feel the aura. This could help you to get rid of the pain quickly. You can prevent migraines by identifying the trigger and taking steps to avoid it. Low blood sugar levels can also trigger migraines so avoid fasting and dieting. Drink plenty of water, as dehydration can also trigger migraine headaches. This is because if you don’t drink enough water, your body will take fluid from your blood. In an effort to preserve body fluids, blood vessels constrict which can lead to migraine.
  • Magnesium has been shown to be beneficial in preventing migraines. Magnesium deficiency can be caused by stress, smoking, alcohol, and other factors such as stress.
