Ayurveda recommends sunlight exposure or, if not available, sitting near a fireplace to solve these problems. You can reduce the severity of depression by lighting your home well.
Yoga can also be helpful in winter depression. Oil massages to the head and body are also beneficial. Engaging in sexual activities can help keep the body warm and elevate moods. Relaxing with massages, meditation, laughter, and light music can help a lot. Massage the body and head with an herbal oil that balances vata. Use hot water to remove the oil after massaging. Oil can be removed with a herbal scrub.
Mix flours of yellow gram, green gram and fenugreek in equal amounts to make the scrub. This scrub does not remove natural oil from the skin. Proper footwear is essential. Hot soups are a must. Black gram, oil and wheat are good vata balancing foods. Use thick blankets. Spend time with friends and family with whom you enjoy spending your leisure time. As much sunlight as possible.
