Many doctors recommend a variety of treatments to treat yeast infections. These are especially useful in rural areas, where it is difficult to find medicines or the budget is not available. Home remedies, which can range from dietary modifications and baking powder, are an economical way to treat yeast infections.
Probiotics
Probiotics are dietary products that contain Lactobacillus. They can be used directly or consumed as a home remedy. This microorganism lowers the pH of the vaginal lining to prevent opportunistic yeast infections. Yogurt and milk are two examples of probiotics. Acidophilus capsules or tablets, which are also probiotics found in yogurt, can also prove to be beneficial.
It can be added to milk, or taken as-is. A variety of herbs, spices, and leaves can be used to combat yeast infection.
Salve
Salve, also known by the names Icthyol Salve or Black Ointment, is a medical ointment made from Echinacea herbs. The chalk-like form of Salve is used to treat skin conditions such as boils or ingrown toenails. The Tabebuia inner bark (Tabebuia Serratifolia in particular) is what is used to make Pau d’arco tea or Lapacho. It is found in South America, Paraguay and Brazil. It can even be used to treat yeast infections.
Allicin
It is a powerful antifungal ingredient that can be extracted from crushed garlic cloves. It is a powerful compound that fights bacteria and viruses. Boric acid, a saltwater derivative, has been used in vaginal suppositories to treat yeast infections. You can also insert the powder using two gelcaps for up to four consecutive nights. It has been proven to be more effective than Fluconazole in studies that have been conducted since 1989.
Kefir
A fermented beverage originally from Central Asia’s Turks and Mongols, also has antifungal properties. Kefir is a mixture of bacteria and yeasts in protein, fats, and sugar. The kefir grains are inoculated with cow, goat, or sheep’s dairy and then mixed until it resembles yogurt. Another remedy is a medicated douche made of sodium bicarbonate (or baking powder) or water.
You can use a subtle mixture of 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate and 1 cup water to make a vaginal wash every day. The alkaline nature sodium bicarbonate is believed to be responsible for the elimination yeasts. Nutritionists recommend diet modification, in addition to yogurt and other probiotics. It is important to eat a low-sugar diet, which consists mainly of uncooked greens. Cranberry juice can also be used to acidify the urine and vaginal pH. This makes it more difficult for yeasts to survive.
