It’s also known as St. Anthony’s fire in Italy. Shingles is caused the same virus that causes chickenpox. You’ll remember chickenpox and know that it can cause serious complications. The virus does not escape your body after an attack. Instead, it retreats to nerve cells where it can remain hidden for many years. Stress and illness can trigger the virus’s reproduction later in life. The virus travels along the nerve to skin and causes the painful condition known shingles.

Shingles

Anyone who has experienced it knows the severity. It can begin as a feeling of numbness, tingling, and itching. It can feel like needles are pricking your skin. It soon develops into a painful, classic rash, similar to chickenpox. It blisters. Erupts. Forms scabs. It can last for several weeks. You’ll quickly recover if you’re healthy. Only 4% of those who have shingles (of whom 50% are over 60 years old) experience a recurrence. Traditional treatment has included hot compresses to relieve the pain and aspirin to reduce it. (Please see our “Health News” article at page 4 for a possible “natural pain reliever), and TIME.

It’s not that different today. Doctors believe that antiviral drugs can reduce the severity of an outbreak if they are detected early (within 48 hours). This is a debate among professionals. It is also unlikely that a diagnosis can be made so early. People who have shingles often feel helpless, but that’s unless they look at the Edgar Cayce readings. People suffering from shingles were given Cayce readings that indicated poor eliminations as the root cause.

Toxicity

When there is toxicity due to a slow colon, both the capillary- and lymph circulation are negatively affected. The liver and kidneys also suffer from this condition. Because the skin is the largest organ in the body and plays a major role in eliminations, it can become stressed and become vulnerable to distress. Cayce cited a variety of contributing factors, including poor diet, general debilitation and spinal lesions. Cayce suggested that a case if respiratory flu could be causing congestion in the colon. As I mentioned, shingles can cause a feeling of helplessness.

It is easy to believe that time is the ultimate healer, and so it is tempting to wait it out. You don’t have to wait. It can make a huge difference in how you feel and heal. You can either apply ice to the lesions or heat packs with baking soda, depending on which is most soothing. Eat alkaline-forming foods that are easy to digest. All fruits, except apples, should be embraced. T

Vitamins

ake vitamin B, drink lots of citrus juices, eat cooked vegetables, and drink lots of citrus fruit juices. Avoid sweets, alcohol and meats. This diet will alkalize and boost your immunity, making the virus much more unwelcome. A gold chloride solution (10 grains in 20-ounces of distilled drinking water, five drops per day) can stimulate circulation and blood purification. 1/2 oz. Watermelon seed tea Add 20 ounces water to the tea. It can be drunk hot or cold as a tea. This tea is popular for its ability to promote and maintain healthy eliminations. A small amount of Sulflax (salts cream of tartar, sulphur) can be taken three times daily.

Colonics can be used as often as necessary to eliminate stools. Your colonic therapist will advise you. Spinal manipulation can be used to relieve some of the stress and pain associated with shingles. It is worth making a weekly appointment to check on your condition. The Edgar Cayce head and neck exercise is a great relaxer. It is especially helpful if your shingles are in the cranial region. This is what I do when I feel ill from a cold, flu or an outbreak of poison oak.

I created a wellness plan that incorporates the Cayce readings. It is similar to the one above. Many of the things I have neglected to do are things I know I should be doing regularly, but I’ve let them slide because I’m too busy to make appointments, take a yoga class, or shop fresh vegetables. I realize that if I had taken better care of my health, I wouldn’t be in this mess. Once I’m out of my current situation, I start to implement my health plan. I visualize a healthier me. I suddenly feel much better. I am on the road to even better health than before! You will, too!

Are there types of Migraine Headaches?

Mesothelioma

What is Mesothelioma, exactly? Mesothelioma, also known as cancer of the mesothelium, is a condition in which mesothelium cells become abnormal and multiply without order or control. They can spread to nearby tissues and organs. Metastasizing is a process in which cancerous cells spread from their original location to other parts of the body. Most cases of Mesothelioma start in the pleura and peritoneum. The lining around the chest and lungs. Malignant Mesothelioma is a rare form.

The cancerous or malignant cells in malignant Mesothelioma are found in the sac lining your chest (the Pleura), the lining surrounding the abdomen (the Peritoneum), or the lining around your heart (the Pericardium). How can you get Mesothelioma. Working with asbestos is the biggest cause of Mesothelioma. It is a major risk factor. About 70 percent to 80 per cent of all cases involve asbestos exposure at work.

Good to know

There have been instances where Mesothelioma was not diagnosed in individuals who had been exposed to asbestos. Most people with malignant Mesothelioma were exposed to asbestos in their work environments. Others have been exposed to asbestos in their homes, sometimes without their knowledge. Asbestos is a name for a group minerals that are found naturally as masses strong, flexible fibers that can easily be separated into thin threads and weaved. Many industrial products have used asbestos, including cement, brake lines, roofing shingles, flooring products and insulation. Tiny asbestos particles floating in the air during manufacturing can cause serious health problems.

Mesothelioma is not the only danger. Asbestosis, a non-cancerous, chronic lung disease, and other cancers such as the kidney and larynx, can also be caused by asbestosis. Asbestos-related diseases are more likely to develop if you have been exposed to asbestos for a longer time. Evidence suggests that relatives and those living with asbestos workers are at greater risk of developing Mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases. This could be due to asbestos dust being ingested on the clothing and hairs of asbestos workers.
