Head lice combs can be very useful tools in the removal of lice. They are often used in conjunction to other treatments. Before you buy one, here are some things to know. Many lice products, such as nix, contain harmful chemicals. They may not be completely eliminated after use, as some lice are becoming more resistant to the chemicals.
Lice Comb
A lice comb is a great tool to remove head lice and nits. There are two types of lice combs: metal and plastic. Both have fine teeth with very narrow gaps. Both combs will be slightly more expensive than the plastic ones, and each has its pros and cons. The metal comb is stronger than the plastic one, and your teeth will eventually fall out. The metal comb will last longer because it is made from stainless steel.
It is also great for crushing nits (lice eggs). Plastic combs can be used to untangle hair without causing it to break. The lice comb can be used on either dry or wet hair. However, it is best to use it while the hair is still damp. This will make the process much easier. Because nits are ‘glued’ to hair shafts, it can be difficult to remove them.
Remember
A lice comb alone may not be enough to get rid of them. To loosen the glue, it is best to use it with a medicated lice shampoo. Follow the instructions on packaging if you’re using lice shampoo. You can use lice combs on both children and adults. If a child has lice, an adult will usually help with the combing.
It is always easier to have an adult help with the combing, even if they are not lice-infected. The comb should only be used after applying a lice shampoo. To eliminate lice completely, you will need to use the comb at least once per week for a period of four to six months. You will still need a head lice brush, regardless of whether you use a medicated shampoo or a natural remedy.
