There are some things you need to remember if you decide to use a home remedy for nail fungus, whether it is a “home remedy” from your local pharmacy or an over-the counter remedy from your local pharmacy. The first and most important thing is to understand that the fungus is under your nails and not on them.

Home Remedies

To be effective against nail fungus, home remedies must attack the fungus both from the outside as well as the inside. External treatment is necessary to treat the fungus below your nail. The skin around your fingernail and toenails are also infected. The fungus will spread if you only treat the area below your nails. The opposite is true, however.

The fungus under your nails will continue to spread and reproduce if you only treat the external infection. Remember that nail fungus is a fungus that can be treated at home. There are many different types. This means that certain remedies may work for some strains but not others. This is especially true for home remedies. This information is easily found online so you can verify it yourself. White vinegar completely treated their infection. These same treatments are useless, as will many others. Both groups are lying.

Fungal Infection

The majority of home remedies work, but only for certain strains. It is possible to be lucky and get lucky the first time around, but it is not likely. All fungi reproduce through the production of spores, which, just like plant seeds, turn into adult fungi. These spores, again, can remain dormant for a long time before “taking root” or growing.

Your nail fungus home treatment may have been successful, but that doesn’t mean the infection is gone. Continue to treat the infection until you are sure enough time has passed for them to die. You may think you have solved your problem, only to find that a new infection is emerging soon after you stop taking your treatment. Most prescription treatments and most over-the counter remedies clearly indicate the duration of treatment on their labels.

Remember

You should complete the entire treatment before you stop. If you decide to use a home remedy, keep treating until you are certain that the treatment has been effective enough to eradicate the spores. Then, you can continue to treat for another 2 to 3 months. It’ll feel like you’re just putting your fingers together and playing the dice.
